Given that this film was originally suppose to be much more serious in tone, it would not surprise me that much of this was intentional. His original plan is thrown off track, to blow up Machine Gun Joe, but in the end with the help of ideals of the resistance (again Annie) is able to formulate a new plan.Īnyways this film seems to me at least to be along the same lines of the white clowns in F451, Alex of A Clockwork Orange or Itchy and Scratchy, going to an extreme to show how desensitized to violence we are, and being a little critical of us for it. They would be probably the well educated who would have a plan for bringing about change, but it will take time and up against a lot of resistance. There is the one rebel who is sort of the loud minority who effectively is undermining the operation by causing schism within the group, and also by drawing too much attention to themselves. The other side then comprises of Thomasina Paine, Annie Paine and the rest of the resistance, who are sort of misguided but well intentioned.

Pander the sleazy social climbing name dropper who probably doesn’t care one way or the other but just wants to take full advantage of the situation. He is part of this easily controlled public who wants to be placated, and then there is Ms. Then there is Junior the very… exuberant… reporter, who states his place most clearly right at the end with shouting about how the public loves and wants violence. I suspect there must be other bread and circuses that keep the people placated (probably other violent sports). The one shown in the film is the Death Race, but it only lasts 3 days out of the year. President and his corrupt government who uses fear to keep power, while at the same time provides meaningless gifts to the people in the form of entertainment. Well let me add this, there is a clever sort of social commentary to this film, and I am sad I forgot my headphones (see above) because I think that the director was trying to make a point with this film besides just entertaining. The Good: This film is a lot of fun, there are car chases, explosions, sly stalone make his yelling/I just had a stroke face, copious amounts of nudity, what more could you ask for? The Synopsis: The fascist government of the United Provinces of America gets together five racers to be part of the bread and circuses. I forgot my headphones so i wasn’t able to make out some of the dialogue very clearly, and I feel like there were some social commentary things that I missed because of it.
I have been promising to do Death Race since the beginning of Nov, so this was an obvious choice. I have now watched 3 of the 5 so I will need to put some new movies on here for future events such as these will effect me in the future.

This lead to the very obvious choice of watch a movie that I have saved on my laptop for just such an occasion. I have movie night with Jeff and Sara tonight (and possibly Drew), but I am on campus, with a 4 hour gap between classes. Hey folks, trying to get December off to a good start.
